A Disney trip is not the time to break in a new pair of shoes. On average, our family walks about 22,000 steps per day on our Disney trips (our most recent trip was 27,000) and if I’m being honest, my feet HURT after a couple of days. I find it helpful to bring a couple of pairs of comfortable walking shoes and I alternate between the two pairs each day. If you have the opportunity to elevate your feet for 10-15 minutes once you return to your hotel room, that helps a lot too.
While we are on the topic of shoes, another helpful tip is pack a pair of flip flops in your backpack. Before going on water attractions, switch out your walking shoes for your flip flops. Then, once you have finished riding your water attraction, switch back to your dry socks and shoes. Walking around with wet socks is the worst!!!
For those traveling to Florida, Florida summers are known for their daily rain storms. When you start seeing the wind really pick up, this is a great time to switch over to your flip flops. When it begins to pour, you will be glad that your socks and walking shoes are safely in your backpack. When the short storm is over, you can switch back to your dry walking shoes.
